The Wes Carey Memorial
The Wes Carey Memorial plaque was established after his death by his wife Florence Carey. Wes was very passionate about youth learning about agriculture. He strongly believed young people should know what it takes to raise animals and was a huge believer in strong communication skills and record keeping, two very important skills in everyday life. That is why Florence established the Wes Carey Memorial, to honour and reward members of the Stavely Parkland 4-H Club. He made sure his 4 sons were involved with the club while growing up and would have been proud to know his grandkids were also longtime members and to this day live by his beliefs.

The Jeffrey Robert Lewis Memorial
Jeffery was born October 30, 1972 and raised in Red Deer Ab. He moved to the family farm East of Nanton with his Mom and Dad (Judy and Norm Lewis) in 1980. Jeffery played sports in Nanton, hockey was his greatest passion. He was a member of the Nanton 4-H Beef Club. Although he didn't win any 4-H awards, he was always first to congratulate others, a true sportsman! When Jeffrey was eight years old a brother was added to the family and two years later another brother. Jeffrey was a great big brother and loved to play with and teach Ross and Wes various things. Jeffrey was a kind soul that loved all animals and family members. In the October of 1983 Jeffrey was diagnosed with Rhabdomyosarcoma, which is a rare childhood cancer. Jeffrey spent many months at the Children's hospital in Calgary and spent his final Christmas at home in December 1983. Jeffrey lost his battle on July 7, 1984. This award is intended to keep the memory alive of Jeffrey Robert Lewis, and honour a 4-H member that exemplifies the same quality.
